This was one of my first experiments with the log cabin pattern. It’s a 1-meter square baby blanket made from blue and brown variations of South African shweshwe prints. I really enjoyed the effect of the geometric prints within the log cabin blocks. There is no arrangement to the specific prints, though I did try to make sure each one was was fairly represented throughout the design. For the final quilting, I was limited at the time by my own inexperience and the size of my little BabyLock machine, so I kept to diagonal lines on either side of the brown squares.
The blanket is for my new nephew – my sister’s 3rd boy. I didn’t think the blanket was that big, but I was surprised when she put him on it for a little nap. So little and so cute!
