Stockings!

My parents travel more than the average 70+ year-olds. They go back and forth to Congo two or three times a year, and when they are in the US, they rarely stay in one spot long. As a result, they don’t often have all of their own Christmas stuff in one place. This year, since they were coming back from Congo just before Christmas, I decided to decorate their house and make them special quilted stockings. The fabric is mix of African wax prints, batiks, and tie-dye. One cut is a South African shweshwe, and one is an American cotton print. I lined the stockings with a heavy velvety fabric whose name I forget. They are pretty sturdy stockings … they should last long enough to hand down to grandkids and maybe even great grandkids.
